Warming World

  1. How has the average global temperature changed? (issues):
    1. Version 2.0 - bars; zoom and scrub; absolute temperatures used. You can also use in multi-window mode.
    2. Version 1.0 - bars; only zoom; temperature anomalies used. You can also use in multi-window mode.
    3. Version 0.2 (archived) - scatter graph; only zoom; time goes backwards
    4. Version 0.1 (archived) - CO2 with annotations; scatter graph; only zoom; time goes backwards
  2. Which regions have the most extreme temperature change? (issues):
    1. Version 2.0 - only annual data; map-centric interface; 1950-2016 data. You can also use in multi-window mode.
    2. Version 1.0 - has seasonal signals; two panels; only 1990-2016 data. You can also use in multi-window mode.
  3. What's warming the planet? (issues)
    1. Version 2.0 - physical buttons enabled; multi-button enabled; no combined factors; no temperature trend; integrated labels. You can also use in multi-window mode.
    2. Version 1.0 - combined factors; only one factor at a time; temperature graph. You can also use in multi-window mode.
    3. Version 0.1 (archived) - knob control with slider for playing graph

How Climate Works

  1. How does the Sun's energy drive climate? (issues):
      1. Version 2.0 - two globes; ocean surface currents, atmospheric wind just above the surface
      2. Version 1.0 - three globes; net radiation, land/sea surface temperature, and vegetation/snow cover. You can also use in multi-window mode.
      3. Version 1.1 - four globes; net radiation, land/sea surface temperature, vegetation/snow cover, CO2. You can also use in multi-window mode.
    1. Version 0.1 (archived) - net radiation over one year with annotations

Consequences of Climate Change

  1. How have we observed climate change? (issues):
    1. Version 1.0 - images of different locations on planet Earth, showing change over time periods ranging from centuries to days.
  2. How has the frequency of major natural disasters changed? (issues):
    1. Version 1.0 (under construction)
  3. What are the consequences of the consequences of climate change? (issues):
    1. Version 1.0 (under construction) - Use left and right arrows or mousewheel to navigate

Paleoclimate

  1. Ice core interactive (issues):
    1. Version 2.1b - like previous version, but with full timeline
    2. Version 2.1a - re-organize information hiearchy
    3. Version 2.0 - only partial display showing ice extent globe and basic animation
    4. Version 1.0b - displaying stories while looking at 3km timeline
    5. Version 1.0a- displaying stories while looking at 3m specimen
    6. Version 0.1b (archived) - reading a 1 meter ice core
    7. Version 0.1a (archived) - showing three different sections of the ice core

Misc

  1. Dot filter
  2. Radial tree graph UI
  3. Notched feedback for smooth slider
